 |
Jisōsen was the author of a two volume picture book entitled Fusō Hyakukikufu (Album of Many Divine Chrysanthemums). It was first published in 1736 and included the 87 pictures of chrysanthemums shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. These pictures are probably from a later edition with additional colors added to the flowers on some of the pages. Nothing has been recorded about Jisōsen’s life but he used a drawing style influenced by Chinese art and popularized by the Japanese Kanō family of artists.
